Before&After
  • Thank Dr. Shim, the nurses, and the entire VLIF team for their professional and compassionate care throughout this journey

  • My mother recently underwent a comprehensive facelift procedure at VLIF Plastic Surgery, including a face and neck lift, platysmaplasty, subbrow lift, lower blepharoplasty, and skin booster. Overall, we’re very satisfied with the care and support we received throughout the entire process.
Pre-Op: It started with a thorough consultation with Dr. Shim, who took the time to explain each procedure clearly and address our concerns. The pre-surgery tests were arranged at a nearby clinic, making the preparation process straightforward. The results were sent directly to VLIF, which helped things move smoothly without additional hassle.
Surgery Day: On the day of the surgery, we were guided through each step, from final preparations to the operating room. The team members were especially attentive, checking in regularly and helping my mother stay calm and comfortable before the procedure. This kind of support made a big difference in reducing the pre-surgery anxiety.
The surgery itself included multiple procedures, so some swelling, bruising, and the use of blood drains were expected. The staff continued to provide attentive care, helping my mother walk around and adjust to the recovery process.
Post-Op: Recovery has been well-supported, including shampoo services, deswelling treatments (IV drips and red light therapy), and multiple follow-up visits, including stitch removal days. The staff has been attentive throughout, helping my mother with early mobility and guiding us through the recovery process. Communication was mainly through WhatsApp, making it easy to get quick responses to any concerns. They also provided detailed pre- and post-op care instructions, including important reminders and precautions, scheduling, which made the process more manageable.
Days 1-5 Post-Op: The first few days were the most challenging, as this was when the swelling and bruising were at their peak. It was quite uncomfortable, especially with the need to sleep in an upright position while wearing blood drains. We had a post-op check-up the day after surgery, where my mother received her first deswelling treatment, and the blood drains were removed on the second day. The clinic also prescribed medications, eye drops, and ointments as part of the aftercare routine. A compression headband was provided, which needed to be worn continuously for the first few days to help reduce swelling, along with regular use of ice packs. After this initial period, it was recommended to wear the band for about 6 hours a day.
Days 5-19 Post-Op: During this phase, the stitches were removed, and we continued with deswelling treatments and follow-up appointments with the doctor. The face band and ice packs remained a key part of the recovery, helping to control swelling and support the healing process.
Now, at 20 Days Post-Op: The swelling has reduced significantly, though some residual puffiness and tightness remain, as expected. The clinic reassured us that it’s normal to still feel some numbness or a slight tingling sensation in certain areas, as the nerves gradually regenerate. They also mentioned that any uneven texture or small bumps should start to smooth out within 1 to 2 months, even if the skin might not appear perfectly smooth immediately after surgery.

We want to thank Dr. Shim, the nurses, and the entire VLIF team for their professional and compassionate care throughout this journey.
